About the Photo
This photo of llamas I took on the Ruta Quarenta, an epic road stretching for hundreds of miles across Patagonia . It was featured as the Photo of the Week by My Planet TV Russia website. Ruta Quarenta (Route 40) has almost no traffic and still unpaved for the large parts. It was getting dark in this vast uninhabited area and I was driving fast trying to get to the next town before the night fall. Suddenly in the rays of the setting sun I spotted on the road side a few llamas. I hit the breaks and reversed without much hope that the llamas would still be there, but they just kept looking at me curiously. Happily, a camera with a zoom lens was on a passenger seat right next to me. A few photos from the car window and llamas disappeared somewhere beyond the horizon.
